Went here twice during our stay in SA. While we didn’t scratch the surface for Mexican cuisine, this place delivered.
I was drawn in by the quesadillas with huitlacoche, and it was delicious.
We also enjoyed carne asada, barbacoa de borrego and chilango. Caught the tail end of the mariachi band the first night/afternoon.
Service was great, food was delivered quickly and hot. Great portions and reasonable prices.
Side note: we haven’t taken Spanish since junior high, and the servers we had weren’t well versed in English…but we happily broke thru the language barrier and had a wonderful time!
Recommended.

Food was okay, they have a huge menu that has a ton of options so great place for everyone to enjoy what they like. I also thought the prices were reasonable & affordable! I didn’t think the food was anything special, we had bean and cheese nachos to start, sopes de carnitas & chicharrón, quesabirrias, gordita de picadillo, and a side of rice and beans. Great menu and prices but I wouldn’t come back as a regular as the food was not bad but not super spectacular either. The service was not great either, they took over 20 minutes to take our order after our drinks arrived. The atmosphere was normal until some musicians arrived and started playing music for tips and they were so loud we couldn’t even continue our conversation.
Not bad overall, give it a try!

El D.F. is the greatest traditional Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. If you're looking for variety AND quality with your food, please check this restaurant out!

Unlike other Mexican restaurants that offer the same plates as each other with the same quality and taste, El D.F. offers a little bit of everything from different places in Mexico and honors the taste of each dish.

Everything they offer is delicious and authentic. I can vouch for the pambazo, sopes, enchiladas, mole, breakfast plates, tacos, chilaquiles as my favorites.

First time here and everything was good. Service was fast and friendly. Large variety of plates on the menu. Family friendly and every bite was delicious. Definitely will be back.

I had the chicken tamal it was very delicious. The maza was flavorful and a little spicy. The only bad thing is that it came with a big bone. My wife had the huarache with chicken and cactus. The flour was crispy and soft in the center. The flavor was really good also. We had coffee that wasn’t the best but ok. The vibe is awesome but we had to deal with a kid that was running around without proper parenting. Another bad thing was that the waitress was MIA for times. They need proper training because we had to be waiting on refills.
