After hearing for years about how good El Matador is, especially the legendary shrimp, we finally had the chance to check it out—and it did not disappoint! Established in 1963, this iconic restaurant has been a staple for decades, and it’s easy to see why it’s still going strong as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Utah.

From the moment we walked in, we noticed how exceptionally clean the restaurant is, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent and incredibly fast, making the whole experience even better. To start, we ordered the Queso with the chips, which was absolutely amazing—creamy, flavorful, and a perfect way to kick off the meal. I ordered the Rosa, which was fantastic, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. My wife went with the Santos, and it was equally amazing. Every dish we tried was spot-on and lived up to the hype.

If you find yourself in the area, El Matador is definitely worth the visit. Great food, excellent service, a sparkling clean environment, and a warm atmosphere make it a standout spot for delicious Mexican cuisine!

We love coming to El Matador for the Scotty G and Hans burrito! It is off menu, but it’s 100% my favorite thing to get there. We had the best service today from Brooks, who kept our drinks refilled and promptly helped us with all our needs! We love El Matador!

El Matador is a wonderful community Mexican restaurant. It is decorated fun and there is a good amount of seating. We came in on Monday MLK Jr. day @ 6:30 pm and were seated right away. Do be aware that on Fridays & Saturdays they are SUPER busy; so plan on about an hour and a half wait. They have yummy homemade Mexican food with a whole array of options. I really like their tacos with rice & beans; or their Salads, and Burritos. My husband really likes there tour of Mexico plate. You really can't go wrong with anything on the Menu!
They stick families on the Left side of the restaurant, and on the Right side they will do more two or 4 adults, etc. Our waiter last night was AMAZING he really went above and beyond. He even remembered water but, no ice! That almost never happens! If you are looking for a classic Mexican restaurant in Bountiful, with good portion sizes. This Is The Place!

My fiance loves their food!! Kira was our waiter, she was attentive and quick to get us refills on our sodas, salsa and whatever else we needed. They have the best service.

This is our all time favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. We've gone for years, drag our out of town guests up to make believers of them too. ALWAYS order the Veracruz, everyone's soon to be favorite. Never misses, never disappoints!

I've been here twice, I haven't been overly impressed with the food. It's bland and the rice has very little flavor. Compared to other Mexican restaurants the portions are small for the price. The salsa with cheese is great, the chips are mainly crumbs. The drinks were great. But what makes this place amazing is the service. We had Noah and he was so kind and polite.

El Matador has been our go-to restaurant forever! The food and staff are top-notch. Chandler did a great job today. The Veracruz combination plates is a must! Make sure to get the chips and salsa with the shredded cheese! SO GOOD!

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, this is not the one to go to. I heard it was owned by a fellow Armenian so I wanted to try out. However, the food wasn’t so bad, the guacamole was really good as a side and I got fish tacos which was also good. The server was nice too!!
