I scheduled a tour at Campus Walk, but my experience was super disappointing and made me decide not to go with them. When I arrived, no one was there, so I called the office. The person who answered was pretty rude and talked to me in a condescending way. She told me I needed to go to the office, and then later said I should wait for her to show up at the apartment. When she finally arrived, she was visibly frustrated and even said she was "frustrated."

Honestly, the whole thing felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. What made it worse was that no one told me ahead of time I had to go to the office, so I was just confused and frustrated the whole time.

This was my first time reaching out to their team, and if this is the kind of reaction I can expect, I really worry about what might happen after I sign a lease — like dealing with maintenance requests or other potential issues.

I had seen some negative reviews about CRE Rentals before, but I ignored them. Now I totally get where those reviews are coming from. It’s honestly pretty disappointing, and the way I was treated was unnecessary and uncalled for.

They charged us for painting 75% of the apartment, which was not needed, a few frames definitely needed painting but not the walls. Was also charged for cleaning the apartment after I spent a week scrubbing on my hands a knees, so not quite sure what needed cleaning. Also would like to note when my bf moved in (a year before I did) he stated the apartment was in worse shape than when we moved out. Any time I contacted the office, by email or phone call, they would be nothing but rude, and proceed to do nothing to resolve issues, or they just wouldn’t answer me. The week we had a huge storm, and most of Bloomington’s power went out, our windows was leaking a huge amount of water. I emailed and called someone to come out and inspect this and it never happened. Our freezer never kept anything frozen, I reached out for it to be fixed, the maintenance man came and “fixed it” it continued to not keep things frozen. So in my opinion do not rent from campus walk. They are not a good rental company and will charge you for any little thing when you move out just to make more money. Wouldn’t even recommend these bums to my worst enemy.

I have never written a review, but this place was so abhorrent I couldn’t NOT say something.

Do not be fooled by the location and pricing of these apartments. Behind the facade of fake kindness and energetic management lies a team of employees that aim to take advantage of tenants wherever they can. Several incidents regarding maintenance made living here such a chore. Due to a lack of security and safety there was a break-in in one of the buildings two nights in a row. A neighbors door was broken down and ripped off the hinges. Many locations frequently have unhoused people come into the buildings halls during the winter. Management does the BARE MINIMUM to solve these issues, unwilling to cooperate or listen to tenant’s feedback.

Our apartment was prone to leaks and floods from the A/C units of not only our own complex, but each unit ABOVE us. Maintenance was inconsistent and offered several band-aid solutions to “fix” problems. At some points the A/C was off for nearly 5 months even when it got randomly hot during the winter and spring. Our apartment reached upwards of 86° without warning.

These apartments prey on younger college students looking to find a quick place to live. Despite the constant care of the apartment, we were charged over $300 from the security deposit to fix “damages.” Nearly $120 was spent on painting time and supplies. You need to find EVERY little crack, paint stain, etc. during the move-in inspection to even have a CHANCE at getting back your full deposit.

This place should be considered a LAST resort. Management is rude and cares more about the value of money over the well-being of their customers. STAY AWAY.

The one star is for location and pricing. I’d go lower if I could.

This place is a scam. They will take your security deposit and charge you on top of it, all while being rude about it. We had roaches, management entering the apartment unannounced multiple times, flooding from neighbors apartments, and homeless people in the laundry room with no help from staff. It is ridiculous the amount of these management companies in Bloomington that rip off college kids because they can get away with it. Made me pay for all new carpet, and all new painting. For the entire apartment! My guess is they pocketed the whole thing. They have to make sure they can charge it again for the next residents. I paid rent on time every month and was a great resident. Sad that they do not reward this behavior. Live somewhere else.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT rent from Campus Walk.
Upon move-in my apartment had several leaks in the ceiling and the stove didn’t work. When you move-out they give you a long detailed checklist of things you need to clean/do before you move out. My mom and I did each and everyone one of those on the checklist and left the apartment spotless, much cleaner than it was when I moved in. I received less than half of my security deposit back because my apartment was “dirty” and the walls had “markings and holes” that needed to be painted...mind you I’m a graduate student that lived alone and didn’t hang anything on my walls besides one small frame. And my so called dirty apartment is featured on their website for a virtual tour. When I received less than half of my security deposit I emailed them a detailed video I had taken the day I moved out to show how clean my apartment was and how the walls were spotless without any marks, and they did nothing. They completely took advantage of the fact that I was not able to be there for the walk through which is why I had taken the video. Maintenance comes and goes as they please in your apartment without any warning, which is especially concerning being a female living alone. I came home to muddy carpet and bathroom floor/rugs from them when they were fixing my ceiling. Homeless people would live in the basement where the washer & dryers are, which often smelled like urine and the machines were very unreliable. The staff was nice and friendly, but this company is very dishonest and will take your money. I would not recommend anyone rent from them.

DO NOT live here, worst customer ever, my car was towed in about 30 mins after I parked at closure stone, there is no sign on that parking spot, they did not ever have the money to make a clear sign, but very “ efficient” on report and tow your car away. I was about to shopping in the plaza and they said I walked away, and that doesn’t count for a customer, NO Kidding! I as a person have NO freedom to walk?

This company is a scammer , a fraud,
No worth to trust and I would give 0 point if I could!

There are pros and cons of this place. Pros are cheap rent and friendly staff. They were always very understanding of any payment issues and would work with me, they helped any way they could and I’m extremely thankful for that. However, the apartment itself and the company is horrible. Which is not the employees fault.I lived here for two years and when I moved in the kitchen floor was coming up and had nails sticking out of it. I asked multiple times and it was never fixed or replaced. The water heater broke one year and was spewing water all over the apartment and into the downstairs apartment. I called the emergency maintenance number because it was after hours and it took them 3 hours to come and turn off the water, what’s the point of an emergency maintenance number if they aren’t going to respond to emergencies. That’s the whole point of it. Then there’s the issue with security deposit. They told me from the beginning that carpet cleaning, painting and cleaning of the apartment was always included during move out. I checked online and this is true, basic cleaning from normal wear and tear should not be deducted from the deposit but I was charged for these things . The only thing I can understand is the carpet since I lived there for two years. However, the walls are spotless, I never even hung anything on the walls. And I cleaned the place before I left, I always do when I move out of somewhere. Plus, cleaning is part of normal wear and tear and has to be done before a new tenant moves in. So why am I being charged for paint, paint supplies and cleaning? They do everything in their power to keep peoples money, they also didn’t return any of the money that was on my laundry card to me. You may be saving money in rent but you’ll lose money in the long run with the deposit.

I lived with Campus Walk for three years but in two different apartments. The location was hard to beat for the price. The maintenance staff responded in the appropriate amount of time depending on the issue. However I suggest looking elsewhere for a place to stay for the following reasons:
1. You will lose almost all of your security deposit regardless of the state of your apartment at move out. My apartment flooded from the outside while living on the ground floor and I was still charged for all damages to the flooring and walls on top of my personal property damage.
2. The parking situation is terrible. There are too many cars for the number of spots available and you will not be guaranteed a parking spot at your particular apartment complex. There is no off-street parking available.
3. Not enough lighting around the apartment complexes is problematic when walking home/parking late at night. I did not feel safe walking alone back to my apartment after parking at another Campus Walk complex. Additionally, my car window was busted in for no apparent reason parked in the spot closest to the road.
4. The laundry machines are not reliable. Who knows how much money I lost while doing laundry over the years.
5. The stairwells are never clean and tidy.
6. The apartments are old and need updating. I asked for small updates over the years but they never happened.
